The Amherst Police Department utilizes crime mapping software to review offenses and calls for service within the community.  Crime Mapping enhances the ability of police officers and police administrators to identify hot spots, to analyze patterns of crime and criminal behavior, and to share this data throughout the police department.   The police department hopes to use this data to deploy police officers efficiently and effectively.
